Zesco United’s current Coach George Lwandamina will know how it is to TASTE Victory against TP Mazembe as in 2012 he led Red Arrows to a 1-0 win over the Congolese Giants at a Packed Lubumbashi Stadium in a friendly match.

The ATMOSPHERE did not look like it was a friendly match as it was highly competitive but a sleak passing Red Arrows side pulled it off to become only the second Zambian Club to beat TP Mazembe.


TP that year beat many Zambian clubs in friendly matches played in Lubumbashi as they hammered Green Buffalos 3-0, Zanaco also suffered a similar 3-0 scoreline loss while Nkana FC lost 2-0 with Zesco United who had Wedson Nyirenda as coach themselves falling 3-2.

It was also the year that TP hammered Power Dynamos 6-0 in Lubumbashi in the Caf Champions League second leg match after drawing 1-1 in Kitwe.

When it came to Red Arrows TP failed to break down The Airmen as the loss came as a shock after they had dealt with 5 Zambian clubs so easily but George pulled it off with Red Arrows.

Now George is head Coach at Zesco United and questions are asked if he can pull off another surprise win in Lubumbashi or TP Mazembe will maintain their dominance over Zambian Clubs.
