NKANA yesterday drew with Red Arrows in a Super Division Week 34 match that left leaders Zesco United needing a victory over struggling Nchanga Rangers on Wednesday to retain the title.
The draw left Nkana with 69 points, eight behind leaders Zesco.
Nkana can only go to 78 points if they win all their remaining three matches.
And ZESCO United coach George Lwandamina has saluted his players for digging deeper to overcome Nakambala Leopards in a Super Division Week 34 match in Mazabuka.
Leaders Zesco have 77 points, nine clear of second-placed Nkana, Green Eagles and Green Buffaloes.
“Patrick Phiri [Nakambala coach] is a senior coach in terms of experience and the game was well balanced and it was tough. We just had to go an extra mile to get the result.
“All the matches that you play towards the end of the season are tough because all the teams are pushing but I am happy we collected maximum points. We will not relax and we will continue pushing,” Lwandamina said in an interview.
Should Zesco beat Rangers, they will move to 80 points and will be crowned champions with two games before the end of the season.
