SON to Zambian football legend Charles Musonda Snr, Charly Musonda Jr has changed his name and he either wants to be a Brazilian star or Oxford United defender, Zambianfootball.news understands.
The Chelsea player has certainly raised a few eyebrows with this rebrand.
Charly Musonda Jr, remember him?
The Chelsea starlet that was set to be the next best thing out of the academy but he’s struggling to fulfil his potential.
Musonda was last seen having his 18-month loan contract with Celtic terminated after four games.
Musonda was linked to all of Europe’s major clubs when he was playing at Anderlecht aged just 15.
Chelsea managed to secure his signature and everyone thought they were signing the next Belgian superstar.
However, like many Chelsea academy players Musonda found himself out on loan without ever making a first team appearance.
First up was two seasons at Real Betis where the he scored his first professional goal, before returning to Chelsea and playing seven games last season.
Celtic took a chance on him but Brendan Rodgers denied him sufficient game time in favour of Callum McGregor.
Now, in a bid to reverse his fortunes Musonda Jr has undergone a rebrand.
Changing his name on his official Instagram account to Mousinho Jr.
Adding -inho to the end of any footballer’s name instantly makes them a better player so we can see why he did it.
It’s presumed Mousinho Jr has taken the new name to tell the world he’s a flair player that can follow in the footsteps of Ronaldinho or Philippe Coutinho.
However, we’ve found another fellow professional that he might idolise instead.
Oxford United’s 32-year-old defender John Mousinho of course.
Now, we can’t be certain if Mousinho Jr knows who the League One defender is but it can’t just be a coincidence, can it?
The only similarities between their careers are the amount of loans they will likely complete before the end of their careers.
We just hope it works out for the both of them.
