French ligue 2 side Metz FC assistant coach Vincent Hognon has heaped praise on the defence partnership of Ghanaian hard tackling defender John Boye and Zambian defense kingpin Stophila Sunzu.
“Generally when you have players of experience and quality, they go well together, “says the former French defender.
“Sunzu is perhaps the biggest, the tough guy, but he’ll be more into playing the game. And it’s Boye who uses his physique the most .”
At the beginning of this campaign, John Boye came in as a free agent from Turkish club Sivasspor while Sunzu joined after his two-season loan spell at Russian premiere league side Arsenal Tula.
The maroons have the second best defensive record in the second tier of French football having conceded 12 goals in 19 matches.
Sunzu and Boye have been key in Frederick Antonetti’s side which has seen Metz amass 44 points and are six points ahead of second placed Brest as they chase promotion to the top tier French Ligue 1.
