FAZ has confirmed that the Chipolopolo currently in camp preparing for the CHAN will be paid their dues before they leave for the final tournament in Morocco. With only a week to go before the African Nations Championships (CHAN) tournament kicks off in Morocco, Chipolopolo players are still waiting for their allowances and bonuses for the qualifiers.
Zambia beat Swaziland 3-0 at home and 4-0 away, then beat South Africa 2-0 before drawing 2-2 away to qualify to the finals. However, players currently in camp who participated in the qualifiers have complained that they had only been paid for the draw against South Africa to date.
Players have been complaining about the delay in paying them, fearing that they may end up going into the tournament without their money. But FAZ president Andrew Kamanga assured in an interview that the secretariat was making arrangements to pay the players before they leave for the tournament.
“I am sure they will be paid before leaving. Check with GS, I am not privy to such details,” said Kamanga.
Zambia is in group B with Cote d’Voire, Uganda and Namibia and will be based in Marakech.
The tournament kicks off on January 12.
