The once upon a time poster golden boy of Zambian Football ‘Deco’ Mukuka Mulenga has indefinitely stopped playing football, Zambianfootball.news has learnt.
A close associate to the former Power Dynamos midfield genius has exclusively told Zambianfootball.news that Deco who last played for Zambia in 2014 has been advised by doctors to completely quit football.
“Yes, Mukuka has stopped playing football following the ankle injury he suffered. The injury as advised by the Medical staff is grave and there are no indicators of Deco coming to the pitch,” disclosed an associate to Zambianfootball.news.
And the source further disclosed that ‘Mukuka has been devastated with the news from the doctors that his playing career is over due to that ankle injury. His veins has football running and its sad for the boy, very sad and heartbreaking’.
One month ago, a Morrocan side had interest in the 25year old but the deal failed to materialise.
Mukuka who now has some business running with his brother at a popular joint called ‘The Venue’ in Miseshi Kitwe had a blossoming career that even earned him an accolade of Zambian Footballer of the year in 2012.
He more often trains with Power Dynamos to keep fit and is spotted at the CEC gym in Nkana East working out.
Mulenga sustained an ankle injury prior to joining PSL money bags Mamelodi Sundowns as a 20year old in 2013.
Mulenga has played club football for Power Dynamos and Kabwe Warriors.
He made his international debut for Zambia in 2012 and was a participant at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Mulenga was part of the Zambian national team that won the 2013 COSAFA trophy in Zambia recently.
He joined his countryman Kennedy Mweene who was signed from Free State Stars having spent over five years with Ea Lla Koto.
Mulenga was one of the star players in the Zambian Premier League, and for his efforts and hard work, he was named Footballer of the Year in 2012.
