FAZ will soon announce the suppliers of the new kit for the Chipolopolo national team before the start of the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament in Morocco, says president Andrew Kamanga.
Kamanga said his association will announce the kit suppliers for the national team before the CHAN tournament which kicks off on January 12 next year.
FAZ recently terminated the deal signed with MAFRO just four months after signing a two-year contract deal with the kit manufacturer.
The local mother football governing body terminated the deal signed in May this year due to alleged failure by the supplier to meet the contractual obligations which led to the loss of business.
And speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation Sports in Lusaka, Kamanga said FAZ would soon make an announcement regarding the suppliers of the new kit.
He said it was his desire to see the Zambia national soccer team reach the semi-finals at the CHAN tournament and qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Cameroon.
Kamanga said he was proud of the local soccer governing body’s achievements in 2017 and reaffirmed the association’s commitment to develop the levels of football in Zambia.
“We have to make sure we qualify for the AFCON 2019 and our target will be to reach the semifinals. We also have to qualify for the 2020 Olympic games through the U-23 team and reaching the semifinals is our target as we have a team that is capable of doing that.
“We also want to qualify to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar therefore we have a very ambitious program for 2018 and beyond,” said the FAZ president.
He said FAZ achieved slot in 2017 which also saw the appointment of a committee to de-link the league.
“The committee will come up with recommendations.
This is the standard of managing football so that there is enough sponsorship. We have the game attractive so that the sponsors can be able to see value in investing in it,” he said.
