Sports Minister Emmanuel Mulenga says he is waiting for the Football Association of Zambia -FAZ- to submit a new list for the vacant National Football Team Coach position.

Mulenga says the Ministry is waiting for the second list after the Association’s preferred candidate renewed the contract with his club.

He told ZNBC Sports in an interview that FAZ has shortlisted a new candidate that the Ministry needs to closely interview.

Mulenga said caution must be taken in selecting a new coach adding that whoever will be employed must redeem the country status as a footballing nation.

And Football Analyst Musonda Chibulu said the association is behind schedule in announcing the new coach because the country has major tournaments and qualifiers to prepare for.

Chibulu said there is need to expedite the process so that players can be acquainted to the philosophy of the new coach.

He said with assignments such as the CHAN, AFCON 2020 and Under 23 qualifiers a new coach should have been employed to assemble players for the respective tournaments.

By broadcast time- FAZ- could not give their position on the matter.
