Football is back in Zambia this weekend after an almost three month absence and football lovers are looking forward to the action ahead.

Three Zambian Clubs will be in action in the first round of CAF Competition as Zanaco, Zesco United and Green Buffalos look to get wins while Nkana FC are on a bye.

Zanaco FC return to the CAF Champions League as a much stronger side this year after they surprised many last year by reaching the Group stage of the CAF Champions League where they had the strongest defence in the competition conceding just 3 goals in 10 games and losing one match to eventual Champions Wydad Casablanca.

This year Zanaco have added depth to the squad by getting Maisha Chavda from TP Mazembe, Bernard Ofori Danso from Ghanaian Club Medeama, Chitiya Mususu from Napsa Stars among other players.

Zanaco take on Gambian Armed Forces Football Club this Saturday at 15:00 at Nkoloma Stadium.

Zesco United return to the CAF Champions league which they last played in 2016 when they reached the Semi Finals.

Much is expected of Zesco United despite the fact that the club has lost its longtime Secretary General Justin Mumba who had his appointment revoked a week ago and gave a tearful farewell to the players.

Veteran Winstone Kalengo is back at Zesco as they tackle on JJU of Zanzibar this Saturday at 15:00 in Zanzibar having never been knocked out of the first round of CAF Competition.

Buffalos take on Egyptian side Al Masry in the Egyptian town of Port Said this Saturday at 19:00 Zambian Time.
