Zambian legend Kalusha Bwalya is the first Zambian Player to play in the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
He achieved this with Dutch club PSV Eindhoven in the competitions inaugural year in the 1992/1993 season.
PSV Eindhoven were placed in GROUP B with Portuguese side FC Porto, Italian Giants AC Milan and Swedish side IFK Gothenburg.
Kalu made his debut in the 4th Round against IFK Gothenburg away in Sweden a game which PSV lost 3-0 but where Kalu came off the bench in the 13th minute replacing Numan.
Kalu followed that up with another match where he came off the bench in Round 5 as PSV lost 1-0 at home to FC Porto.
PSV ended last in the group losing 5 matches and drawing 1 but their Brazilian striker Romario was topscorer of the competition with 7 goals earning himself a move to Spanish Giants Barcelona while Kalu who was now in his 30s played his last season for PSV before heading out to Mexico to join Club America.
It would take almost 20 years before the next Zambian featured in the Uefa Champions League with Fwayo Tembo playing for Swiss side FC Basel in the 2010/2011 season.
