Emmanuel Mayuka in action (l)
Lusaka Dynamos coach Danny Kabwe has explained that former national team striker Emmanuel Mayuka has stopped training with his club, but says the player was not obliged to continue because he had not officially joined the outfit.

The former English Premier league club Southampton player is currently without a club and struggling to maintain his fitness while looking for his next career prospects.

A stint at Lusaka Dynamos sparked speculations that he was poised to stay and resume his local assignment under Kabwe’s tutorage.

But in an interview with Goal Diggers! Kabwe said that Mayuka was only training with his side for fitness purposes without a contract or talks about him joining officially.

Mayuka (20)

“It is true that he trained with us for three or so days but that was it. He did not at all join the team and we cannot stop him from training with us if he asks. If he wants to join the club he will tell us and we would make it known to the media,” said Kabwe.

“I am free right now and not with any club. I was only training with Lusaka dynamos as a way of staying fit. When there’s something concrete about me joining any club, I will make it known,” said Mayuka.

Mayuka has played for a number of top clubs both within and outside Africa and these include Southampton, FC Metz, Zamalek and BSC Young Boys among others.
