Zambian international striker Lazarous Kambole could be closing in on a move to the PSL, with indications that an Absa Premiership club is keen on signing the player.
With the likes of Zambia internationals like Justin Shonga and Augustine Mulenga making a name for themselves at Orlando Pirates, as well as their countrymen at other PSL clubs doing the same, it has emerged that another top Zambian could be on his way to Mzansi.
Lazarous Kambole, who had been linked with Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Black Leopards prior to the start of the season, has emerged as the target for Baroka FC.
According to sources in the know, the Limpopo outfit would be keen to lure the 24-year-old forward to the club under Wedson Nyrenda, who is his former coach from the Zambia senior national team.
“One of the officials from Baroka FC went to Zambia on Thursday to try and sign the player. I’m not sure if it’s going to be a pre-contract or what but all I know is that Baroka is interested in the player and that one of the club’s officials is currently there (Zambia) to try and sign him,” said the source.
If the deal materialises, he will join fellow countryman and former Chipolopolo boss Wedson Nyirenda who is the current coach for Baroka FC.
On August 18, Kambole created a record after he scored three goals in five minutes for Zesco United during their 3-0 win over Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland in the CAF Champions League.
The goal was recorded as the fastest hat-trick in the history books of the continental competition.
Furthermore, Kambole earned a number of admirers in Mzansi and around the continent with impresses performances for Zambia during the COSAFA Cup tournament held in Limpopo earlier this year.
Earlier last month, French Ligue 1 outfit Angers expressed interest in luring Kambole to France.
