SPORTS Minister Moses Mawere says he is happy with the 26-man squad announced by Chipolopolo coach Sven Vandenbroeck in which he has included players who had seemingly fallen out of favour with his predecessor.
Vandenbroeck, who is preparing for an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Namibia on the second Saturday of September, has brought back to the national team fold the likes of former captain Rainford Kalaba and his TP Mazembe counterpart Nathan Sinkala.
There is also room for Israel-based defender Emmanuel Mbola and Armenia-based midfielder Lubambo Musonda in addition to Africa Cup winning players, goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene of Sundowns in South Africa and defender Stopilla Sunzu of FC Metz in France.
“Us as government, we don’t interfere with the coach. We’re happy with what he has done, we cannot condemn him for now,” Mawere said during an interactive forum in Lusaka yesterday.
