The Zambia Under-23 National Team has left for a weeklong camp in South Africa ahead of the back-to-back Egypt 2019 Olympic Tournament qualifiers against Malawi.
Assistant coach Bilton Musonda left with the local based players at 16:30 hours and will be holed up in Johannesburg until they depart for Malawi on March 17.
FAZ has placed a high premium on the Under-23 project that comprises the bulk of the 2017 Under-20 Africa Cup winning players.
The team will be accommodated at the Garden Court Milpark Hotel.
Foreign based players with the exception of Portugal based Boston Muchindu who has already joined the team will link up with the team in Blantyre.
The foreign based players summoned for duty are Patson Daka, Enock Mwepu (both Red Bull Salzburg), Fashion Sakala (KV Oostende) and Emmanuel Banda (AS Beziers-France).
Zambia plays Malawi away on March 20 before hosting them at National Heroes Stadium on March 24.
Winner between Zambia and Malawi will face either Burundi or Congo Brazzaville in the final qualifying round.
The eight team African zone Olympic qualifier will be hosted in Egypt with top three teams qualifying to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
