A day before Chipolopolo were crowned as African Champions in 2012, all the people believed that the cup belonged to star-studded Ivory Coast. Almost all the Journalists were just interested in interviewing the Didier Drogba captained side. No one apart from the Zambians had interest in the Chipolopolo boys.
Chipolopolo training ground had only one camera while the Ivorians camp had countless cameras.
Zambia were supposed to be in their first choice orange jersey as fixture was showing them as a home side but CAF made changes at last minute in favour of the Ivorians. The Chipolopolo were forced to be in the now famous and historical green.
During interview with Chipolopolo players a day before the final, Journalists wanted to bring down the morale of the team by asking each player’s name as they pretended not to know anyone in Zambian team. It angered coach Herve Renard and he blocked any journalist from conducting any interview with his players.
Then captain Christopher Katongo shouted at the Journalists, YOU SHALL KNOW US TOMORROW.
YES. Herve Renard and the boys were known on 12th February 2012. After the final, all the journalists lost interest in the Ivorians. They were now begging to interview the Copper Bullets. All the cameras and news were on the victorious bullets.
YOU SHALL KNOW US TOMORROW
