The Zambia under 20 women’s national have qualified to the semifinals of the ongoing under 20 COSAFA championship after a 4-1 win over Botswana.

Mylan Mulenga put Zambia in front in the 19th minute with Theo George equalizing in first half injury time through a penalty.

The junior Copper Queens wasted no time to regain control of the scoreline with a Thandiwe Ndhlovu goal in the last minute of first half injury time to send the game into the break with 2-1 scoreline.

Player of the match Mary Mambwe found the back of the net in the 63rd minute as Zambia continued to control play.

Mulenga later added her second of the day in the 68th minute to seal Zambia’s second victory from as many games.

They will be taking on Tanzania in their last game with only two teams advancing to the semis.

Coach Charles Halubono’s girls have moved to six points and will be taking on Tanzania in their third group B game on Tuesday.

Mambwe has already set her eyes to playing in the final.
