Promoted Super Division side Kabwe Youth Academy is gearing up for the 2018 FAZ/MTN Super League with management announcing that it will conduct trials next week to make new additions to the squad.

Team manager Davy Mungoli told Fazfootball.com that the Kabwe side that defied all odds last season to qualify to the Super Division would only consider players aged 17 to 26 years.

Kabwe Youth Academy rubbed the football conscience at the close of the season after having lost its chairman and chief sponsor Evans Mutangama who died in India after having undergone an operation.

He died after his team made it to the Super League but never lived to see it compete in the top division.

Mutangama was honoured posthumously at the FAZ/MTN awards for having helped steer Kabwe Youth academy to Super League football and consecutively qualifying for the Barclays Cup quarterfinals in 2016 and 2017.

“Kabwe Youth Academy will on Wednesday January 24 hold trials that will go on up to Friday 26th January 2018. The venue for the trials will be Presidents Stadium,” Mungoli said.
Coach Noel Phiri will lead the team in the Super Division in the 2018 season.

Mungoli dispelled rumours that the club had pulled out of the Super League due to financial challenges.
Four clubs that made it to the Super Division last year are National Assembly, Kabwe Youth Academy, Kitwe United and New Monze Swallows.
