FAZ premier side High Flying Nkwazi FC have offloaded three foreign players as they failed to prove a point as foreign players. The club has since signed up another one in a bid to streamline and improve the side in the 2018 football season.

Nkwazi have let go of Congolese striker Katalayi Mbongo as well as the Ghanaian duo of Francis Biyo Ajeye and Michael Owusu.

Nkwazi Secretary Davies Chimbwelenge said the players had been released because they did not meet the club’s expectations.

“We have offloaded the three foreign imports because they did not meet our expectations as foreign players. But we have a Ghanaian coming in,” he said.

Chimbwelenge named the new Zambia Police import from Ghana as Kevin Owusu saying this is in a bid to bolster the club ahead of this year’s season.

He said the Ghanaian defender was coming in on a two-year deal and expressed confidence Ghana will get value from the player.

Chimbwelenge added that Nkwazi was courting a Congolese goalkeeper whom they will make public once all issues are finalised.

“We are on the brink of signing a Congolese keeper but I cannot divulge the details as it will jeopardise the whole process,” he said.

Chimbwelenge said they would also look at scouting from other Zambia Police feeder clubs like Paramilitary FC to ensure that they got talent to beef up thesquad and give a better performance this year.

In the 2017 season, Nkwazi finished 12th on the MTN-FAZ premier Division table with 47 points, eight above the relegation cut point.

“Our target is to ensure that we improve our fortunes this year aswe want to be one of the top contenders of the league,” he said.

And Zambia Police Director of Sports Adrian Kashala said Nkwazi will also go shopping from other clubs outside the Zambia Police circle.
