Q: Jesse, it was a hard and unpredictable season. How Zesco did do it?
JESSE WERE: It was all about mental strength we knew what was happening around the country on the last day. We knew that if we blunder, we will lose it.
But we came into the final match against Mufulira Wanderers knowing that only a win would grant us the title.
Q: How excited are you to have won your second league title after the disappointment of 2017.
JW: I am very excited.
All that has been happening this season has been about mental strength and experience.
We now focus on the holidays and leave it all to God.
Q: Are you disappointed that you didn’t win the Golden Boot after finishing five goals behind winner Chris Mugalu of Lusaka Dynamos?
JW: First of all I congratulate him because he beat me.
My only target was to make sure my goals help the team win the league. It does not hurt me very much because we had only one objective in mind and that was winning the league.
Q: At some point Zesco were leading by five points and the lead was cut to one point heading into the final day. Did you have a feeling that you were going to lose this title?
JW: We didn’t have any pressure, it is football. Things happen.
But kept our cool and we pushed until the last minute and we have lifted the trophy.
Q: Are we seeing Jesse Were staying on at Zesco United?
JW: Yes you will see me here again at Zesco next season.
