This is ‘the right time’ to join Kaizer Chiefs, says their new attacker, Lazarous Kambole, after he officially began life as a Glamour Boy this week.
‘Lazi’ penned a three-year deal with Chiefs after they signing him from Zambian giants, ZESCO United, and after helping his former side to the Absa Cup title, he’s now trying to find his feet at Naturena.
The 25-year-old Zambian international says that he wants to win trophies in South Africa with his new employers, pointing out their ambition as one of the reasons why he opted to join the club over other interested sides around the continent.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Kambole said, “I used to follow Kaizer Chiefs a lot… I knew the type of football they play and I followed the history of the club online. It is a big club and full of ambitions. They are not mere participants; they play to win nothing less than trophies. Chiefs is expected to win titles. My ambitions match theirs.
“Personally, I am here to improve my game, to score more goals and work with my fellow teammates to win matches. Back home people are happy for me. Even ZESCO fans are raving and happy about my move. That is humbling. God’s time is the best! There were rumours a year ago, but I was patient to move at the right time. This is the right time.”
Kambole’s three-year deal will officially get underway on July 1, and he will be hoping to hit the ground running under Ernst Middendorp in 2019/20.
